Teaching philosophy and approach
Hula Hoop dance and fitness is an accessible and transformative tool with the ability to promote personal well-being, creativity and self-expression, presence and focus, self-confidence and better health. My hula hoop classes are about creating a positive enabling environment, without judgement, where people can play, dance and spin into new energy!
Hula Hooping is a non-competitive social form of fitness. In the hula hoop circle, there’s space to connect with others and an opportunity to connect with your inner child. Or simply provides you with ‘time out’ for something different, curious and joy-inspiring.
About the Facilitator
I hold a Certificate III in Fitness Instruction and am a registered member of Fitness Australia. I have a passion for dance and expression through movement. I am Hoop Love Coach teacher trained and regularly attend international and national Hoop Dance retreats/conventions such as Sacred Circularities Bali, Hoopy Happenings NSW and Spinfest Victoria.
From the gym to the dance floor, I’ve performed at musical festivals and events companies such as Rainbow Serpent Festival, Chi Wow Wah Town and Thick As Thieves, accompanying local and international Artists: Andhim, Sekkt, Rampue and Thank You City. My hoops and colour also make their way to community events for not for profit organisations such as Sacred Heart Mission and Roarhouse Melbourne.
Before becoming a Hula Hoop dancer I worked in the corporate sector as an evaluation consultant for NGO and government programs. During my time living overseas I taught English as a second language to children and young people. With my background in Community and International Development I bring skills in facilitation and teaching. I am confident in providing something relevant and valuable with Hula Hooping to a range of diverse groups and people.
